Australian Youth Forum
The Australian Government is calling on submissions for the establishment of the new Australian Youth Forum (AYF), which aims to allow young Australians (25 years and under) to have greater involvement in government policy development & decision making.
It was announced by the Hon Kate Ellis MP at the final National Youth Roundtable held on 17 March 2008 that the Roundtable would be replaced by the Australian Youth Forum, as a part of the Rudd Governments committment to improving communication between the Government & young Australians.
The Australian Youth Forum intends to cover a broader range of issues than the Roundtable & aims to enable greater opportunities for communication between the Australian Government, young people & the youth sector.
Submissions are now being sought from young people & the youth sector regarding the development of & framework for the AYF. Consultation Meetings will be held in various locations around Australia (including, Swan Hill, Mt Gambier, Orange, Alice Springs, Wyong, Canberra, Shepparton, Darwin, Perth, Broken Hill, Broome, Hobart, King Island) during May.
The consultation period finishes on Friday 30th May 2008.
