Farm Day needs more farmers to meet demand

Farm Day is an event that matches a city and a farming family for the city people to spend a day on a working farm. Have you heard of it? It aims to reconnect urban/rural communities by giving city people a hands-on day of a farm in an atmosphere of ‘Fun, friendship and understanding’. Farm Day has a great impact on city participants in shaping their view of today’s farmers and agricultural practices, it also encourages kids to take their experience back to the classroom through Show and Tell activities.

Farm Day is coming up on 24 & 25 May and we have had a great response – over 700 participants and climbing – however we are short on farmers. The registrations are 2:1 city families to farming families overall, and in NSW it’s 3:1. Unless they can get some more farmers involved a lot of city people will miss out on experiencing a slice of farm life.

It’s easy to register, just go to www.farmday.com.au where you’ll find information about the day and answers to commonly asked questions. You can also read the comments from last year’s participants. The Farm Day brochure is attached which also sums up the event.

Families are being matched this week so jump on-line as more farmers are needed!
